IT’S BACK and the excitement is building. Tours are booking, vendors are signing up from all around the world, and on-line ticket sales are humming. We, at Cal-Orchid can’t wait. James has a vision for an awesome display. The San Francisco group is bringing in their unreal orchid case to display superior plants along with foggers etc. This is a show it’s own right and the show is honored to play host to them. Come and linger as you walk around this phenomenal exhibit.

History:

SBIOS is THE LONGEST RUNNING SHOW IN AMERICA! Not even the wars interrupted us! And then came the worst pandemic in US history. We never got to open the 2020 show, but everything was totally installed, judges were holding their clipboards, and then the Gov. of California said no gatherings of over 250 were allowed. BOOM. We attract between 8-10,000 and rent our facility from the State, so had to cancel. Heart-breaking.

2023 will be our Grand Re-Opening! The show needs to double down on raising seed money, so welcomes any and all donations! FORMERLY HELD IN MAY. COVID POST-PONED TO OCTOBER for 2022.

Definitely one of the largest, and most important show in the US as the booths cover a huge expanse of open ground at the famous Fruit and Spice Park in Redlands, Florida (near Homestead). 20' X 10' white tents dot the landscape, teeming with orchids of all descriptions. It is like a huge orchid village!  Small wonder so many of our customers from the Caribbean flock to this show and sale. Cattleya lovers leave very very happy....arm in arm with the epi. growers, of course! Hours are 10 - 5 all three days.

Held at the landmark and very upscale mall in Costa Mesa, this unique show and sale occupies 3 floors of sales booths as well as very cool floor displays of garden settings staged to get the creative juices flowing for all gardeners!! Find us on the MACY’S end, near H & M. Bring your gardening friends, as although orchids dominate the entire 3rd floor, roses, plumerias, fruit trees, tomato starts and lots of cactus/succulents are generally represented. This is the show where we really promote our 'Pacific Line' of reedstem epidendrums, so if that is your vice get there early. Certainly outdoor growing orchids that are perfect for that new patio setting or even mounting on trees are here for you too. Hours are Thurs: 10-9, Fri: 10-9, Sat: 10-8, Sun: 11-5.30

Springtime in California’s State Capitol is a beautiful time of year. The “City of Tree's’ turns green with all the huge trees pushing new leaves. People are out walking in the nice spring air thinking of what to do in their gardens. Perfect time for an orchid show! We take an extra large sales booth for this one, so the variety of plants here is one of the best of all our shows. All levels of growers flock to The Scottish Rite Temple to show off their plants, and talk to growers about what they might want to tackle for something new or exceptional. We’re Back and up and running to San Diego again! Hooray!!!

Always one of our favorite shows in this great Southern California beach city. There is so much to see and do and EAT in San Diego! BUT FIRST go to the orchid show, right? I hear children crying, spouses wincing..Leave them at home and enjoy your day! This show, held at the Scottish Rite's Temple in Hotel Circle, is a must for Southern California growers as it specializes in orchids that can be grown out of doors including Cymbidiums, Laelias, Australian Dendrobiums and related hybrids. If you have the time, check out the AFRICAN ADVENTURE exhibit at the San Diego Zoo. New this year, and featuring some of Cal-Orchids' HUGE Ansellia africana specimens establishing happily near the waterfall (hopefully not too near... they don't want to be kept wet!) AT the World Famous Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. Come one come al!. This show is definitely one of the BIGGIES of the orchid world, and attracts growers and vendors far and wide. NOTE: It is a VACC ONLY event this year so come prepared to present proof of that. There will be a GALA on Thursday from 6-9:30! This is a perfect time to look things over without the huge weekend crowds.  Seek out the silent auction items too! There are some great opportunities and all money goes to support the society. Up and Running Once again!
This is a wonderful orchid society with dedicated members who work hard to ensure every detail is perfectly executed. It is held at the Community Activities Center, 1400 Roosevelt Ave. in Redwood City, Ca. Judging is on Friday at 7:00 p.m. No Sales on Friday. Vendors are by invitation, and so a nice mix of plants is ensured. We always accentuate our cymbidiums and outdoor growers here, but also blend in species etc. for you collectors. Hours are 10-5 each day. So glad they are BACK!

It’s been a struggle, but travel to the US from South Africa was finally given the green light. Yes, It’s short notice, but outside our control. The important thing is that the Groblers will be here. Plants are being shipped in for you all to select, whether in person or via the pre-order listing they have put together just for this weekend. Make your selections and email them. Your plants will be packed up here in SB and ship via FedEx to your door (separate charges will apply for Cal’s shipping. services).

NEW THIS YEAR! Our Open House is a Double-Header! We have been working hard to be able to host our So. African friends at AFRI ORCHIDS but Covid travel restrictions have been a big hurtle. Missed them at Summer Hummer time in July, but they are ticketed and shipping plants for this year’s November event. US govt. said no So. African travelers until Nov. 8th, so we’ve extended our sale dates to include TWO weekends. Just remember, AFRI sales will be here at Cal only on Nov. 12th and 131th. Friday and Saturday. Join in on the fun no matter whether you are a seasoned veteran or a brand new orchid grower. We are here to help with your selections. We'll feature the start of the cym season, laelia anceps are also bursting with spike development, and new species and hybrids in a great assortment of genera are sure to temp you even further. . So mark your calendars for a road trip to SANTA BARBARA November. It’s right around the corner!

PARKING: It is tight. It has always been difficult. We will have a club cart to help with loading up plants to your car, wherever you are parked. The side streets are okay, but limited. Be mindful of our neighbors' driveways and landscapes etc.at all times. Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone.

The show is held in the Westminster Mall and a popular spot to hit for Valentine’s Day shoppers. We take a large sales spot, and often re-stock once or twice so stop by often. This show, held in Redwood City, Ca. services our Bay Area customers and is one of California's Special (favorite) boutique orchid shows. Sponsored by the Peninsula Orchid Society, you will find quality, AND beautiful displays as well as a diverse selecton of fine nurseries as vendors. Definitely, this is one of the friendliest shows that we attend and for the shopper, it is a unique opportunity for shoppers to actually talk to the vendors about their purchases. This one usually conflicts with Ft. Lauderdale’s show, but not this year, so both of us will be there to help with your selections! Come enjoy the weekend with us!!

We love leaving our brisk weather in Santa Barbara to go see all our friends and sell orchids in Florida in January! This show has long and rich history, and is one of the best national shows for those who enjoy fantastic floor exhibits. PLEASE NOTE: The show will be held at BROWARD COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, 33316. 3rd. Floor, in the Grand Ballroom-Sections A,B,C,D, & E The War Memorial Auditorium is under much needed reconstruction. The Thursday Gala Opening will be from 7-10. As always, we’ll be shipping in a ton of material for sale! We look forward to seeing all our Florida friends in our temporary venue!

Huntington Library and Gardens is the sole sponsor of this long-standing October orchid show, at the gorgeous location in San Marino, California, and we look forward to participating every year. Sales booths are set up outdoors on the lawn, conveniently close to the parking area and also where the displays are at the famous Botanical Center adjacent to the Conservatory. The date has changed for this event to dodge the crazy hot conditions we've contended with in the past! No more traffic going into and out of the Shore too, for those commuting by car. This year they have streamlined the number of vendors to represent commercial nurseries not regularly represented on the east coast, and we are happy to join the roster! Hours are 10-5Friday Sept. 11, and Sat. Sept. 12th. Sunday hours are 10-3.
